Description of Muay Thai

Muay Thai is, without a doubt, one of the most sophisticated and brutal striking arts in the world.  Though heavily influenced by sport, the focus on knees, elbows, and the clinch make Muay Thai an incredibly effective self defense art.  The other defining characteristics of Muay Thai include intense fitness, discipline, and respect; with a special emphasis on discipline and respect.  Participants will learn very quickly to check their ego, pay their respects, and put in 55 minutes of solid work.

The Muay Thai offered at Ethos comes from the Thai Boxing Association of the USA (TBA) and the lineage of the Legendary Ajarn Chai Sirisute (Ajarn means “head instructor”, though in Ajarn Chai’s case many also refer to him as Grand Master).

Our class is taught by our dear friend and brother in the arts, Khun Kru Harun Raja from the esteemed Raja Academy in Greenville, SC.  Khun Kru Harun, (Khun Kru means “teacher”) is also the Regional Director of the South Carolina branch of the TBA.
